non-Evangelical Version.
One thing I will say about Vegans, they are a rudderless group of uninspired, non-completists. In other words, there is no bright and shining beacon of Vegan-dom in the real world or online. (Seperate from their bastard cousins, PETA) There are, instead, many isolated, individual Vegan cells, all of which think they independently started the movement. All of these cell's websites post roughly the same lame diatribe on meat eaters. All these websites in their own way attempt to educate and offer moral support. All of the websites have recipes nooks or food journals, or shopping tips. Not a single website acts like the mother-ship for all non-Ethical Vegans on the internet.
Vegan.com was hijacked by some lackluster group, content to let Peta.org do all the work...

For Fucks Sake! Ralph Geonardi, a B-List actor from 50s and 60s westerns has a single, one size fits all, website. Everything you could ever want to know about that man in on that website. They have production stills, videos, sounds clips, wallpapers, ringtones (His famous 'Kee-yah!' mostly...), PS3 skins... All from a single website. (http://www.ralphgeonardi.com)
We choose not to support cruelty to animals.
So, when I see something common to more than one of these isolated, techno-phobic cyber communities I feel obligated to post it. I have read this 'Vegan Creed' on a couple of different websites. I figured you'd all want to see it. I may have altered the list a bit....
We choose not to support cruelty to animals.
We choose to scoff at people who eat bacon.
We choose to try the endless and exciting possibilities that a Vegan diet has to offer.
We choose not to support environmentally destructive animal agribusiness.
We choose to be aware of what we eat, not who we eat.
We choose to be healthy, educated, and compassionate consumers.
We choose to remain virgins well into our thirties.
We choose an alternative lifestyle, because we have the disposable money and time to do so.

We choose to allow our hygiene become an issue.

It's so hard to distinguish the line(s) you may have created / altered, each line seems so close to what I would expect a vegan to incorporate into their creed. Hmmmm...
ReplyDeleteWow,your blog has turned into a rant against vegans. What gives?
ReplyDeleteI accuse non-ethical vegans of not having a single, dedicated website to rally around. I accuse them of letting the folks at PETA do all the heavy lifting. I find that when I scour the internet, all I find are small pockets of individual veganism. Perhaps all the non-ethical vegans are too busy getting laid to waste time online. Perhaps non-ethical vegans have no interest in evangelizing like their PETA overseers.
ReplyDeleteOr these are jokes and acerbic observations pointed at a group which is easy for most people to find humor in.
I don't hate vegans.
But, I find no nobility in a title. There is no great honor in veganism, beyond what's given by the cow.
