Dark Ascension Pt. 2

Something wicked this way comes...

Something ominous looms on the horizon. February 1st marks both the end of this month's experiment (Thank you Jesus!) and the beginning of the next. We are leaving our cozy, familiar format for something unknown. The question that's plagued me is, what is next month's experiment going to be? I've been scheming about this choice, and the choice for all the following months, over the last few days.  There are three possible categories to chose a theme from....

Something Challenging - Veganism was a challenge, it took a lot of diligence and discipline. I'm not sure how I can up the ante without killing myself. I don't think that the challenges will get more extreme, or more impactful. And I'm not suggesting that I challenge myself to do something that would do anyway. In this category it's either go big, or go home. These challenges will be few throughout the year. When I do chose something from this category, it will be a month to remember.

Something A-Typically Adam - Certain things that other people do every single day would be considered alien to me. Like, practicing Wicca or celebrating hip hop culture or watching terrible television programming (Real Housewives of any city in America) or squatting instead of sitting in chair (I'm looking at you southeast Asia..) or thinking for a second that Han and Greedo shot at the same time.

In Case Of Emergency: Break Glass. Shoot First.

These months are the most difficult for me for obvious reasons. This month, which I will dub "Vegan Territory", has taught me that doing something anti-Adam is a like like living in someone else's skin. I like my own skin, thank you very much.

Something Creative - I anticipate that this category will dominate my year. For example, In November I will once again be participating in the Nanowrimo and in April I will be participating in Script Frenzy (And Blogging about both... That's a metric fuck-ton of writing...). Added to that I will be be doing at least one major Costume month and several film-related months.

Only a few more days until you all know my intentions for February. Once again this blog isn't going anywhere and will certainly benefit from a more diverse choice in mission.

Let me know what you think in the comments. Which of these categories appeals to you the most? Which would you like to see me do? I'm not a dancing bear but will consider your opinions.

Vegan Jokes

I'm finding it quite hard to find more funny in Veganism. I can spend all day rightly likening vegan food to horrendous, inedible stuff (Camel cartilage...), but that's only funny for so long.

I could spend hours talking about how Vegans are funny people, but the truth is, I don't really know many Vegans and haven't talked to another one since I started this project. I can only knowingly talk about internet posting vegans, which are probably as bizarre a sub-set of vegans as I am...

So here are some Stolen Jokes.

  • How many vegans does it take to change a light bulb?   Two, one to change it and one to check for animal ingredients. (If you're a vegan you spend 18 hours a day looking at stupid labels...)
  • How many vegans does it take to change a light bulb?   None, vegans can't change anything.
  • Why did the tofu cross the road?   To prove he wasn't chicken.
  • I'm not vegetarian because I love animals, I'm vegetarian because I hate plants.

And my personal favorite...
  • What does a vegan zombie eat?   GggrrrrRRAAAIIIiiinnNNnnsSs!
Adam

An Interesting side note: Stopped by the regular old grocery store on the way home today. Picked up some mass-produced Boca brand Chik'n Patties and some soy cheese. It was a great meal, and I didn't have to bend over backwards for it. Why are there specialty stores when there is a mega mart with the same shit and an internet for things they might not have? I don't get it.

This is as bad as sparkling vampires...
I am dying a little inside.

Comments

  1. I vote for you getting your license for one of the months. I also like the idea of a month of you painting or drawing a picture every day. My personal favorite, and one you should really consider, coming to the gym with me for a month. This does not mean you need to workout with me every time. I think you would get a kick out of watching some of the idiots in there. "I lift things and put them down.". If I think of anything else I would like to see I will post it here.
